Focus On: Black-crowned finch lark

Black-crowned Sparrow-Lark (Eremopterix nigriceps) is a species of lark found across north Africa and up through the Arabian peninsula to Pakistan.

It has fairly patchy distribution in Arabia and is found in the desert during the winter and more often in fodder fields and farmland during the hot summer months.

As with most small passerines it's best photographed from a car when access is possible.

The adult males with their striking black and white head pattern are striking.
